DescriptionJOB DETAILS:Position Overview:The Transport Officer plays a crucial role in coordinating and managing transportation operations for an organization.They are responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of goods, materials, or personnel, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations, and optimizing transportation processes.The Transport Officer will work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and transportation providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods or services.Key Responsibilities:• Transportation Planning: Develop and implement transportation plans, schedules, and strategies to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods or services. Optimize routes and modes of transportation to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.• Carrier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with transportation service providers, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor performance. Evaluate carrier performance, including on-time delivery, service quality, and adherence to safety standards.• Shipment Coordination: Coordinate the movement of goods, materials, or personnel, ensuring proper scheduling, documentation, and tracking. Communicate with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely delivery information.• Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with transportation laws, regulations, and licensing requirements. Stay updated on relevant industry standards, safety guidelines, and transportation best practices.• Cost Control and Budgeting: Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Prepare transportation budgets, analyze expenses, and implement measures to optimize transportation spend.• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate transportation-related risks, such as route disruptions, delays, or inventory losses. Implement contingency plans and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to address any unforeseen issues.• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including shipment details, invoices, and documentation related to customs• or regulatory compliance. Prepare regular reports on transportation performance, key metrics, and KPIs.• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate transportation processes and identify areas for improvement. Propose and implement enhancements to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction.Qualifications and Skills:• Bachelors Degree in Logistics, supply chain Management, or a related field• Proven experience in transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices.• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, Safety standards and best practices.• Proficiency in using transportation management systems and related software.• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.• Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing priorities• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in documentation and record keeping.
