A teacher’s assistant helps out in the classroom wherever required.
Should be proactive in seeing the needs of the teacher and students and provide assistance as required.
Major Responsibilities and Duties To assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily class programs.(This entails a daily scheduled time for planning with the classroom teacher)Supervise the class and all other activities in the absence of the lead teacher.
Prepare an appropriate learning environment for children.
Ensure availability and supply of stationary and other materials in class.
Setup interest centers in the classroom.
Assist the lead teacher in conducting classroom activities successfully.
Help the children develop good habits, personal hygiene and in developing social skills.
Report to lead teacher in case of children with learning difficulties or observance of any behavioral problems.
Attend training programs, seminars, conferences and staff meetings.
Ensure that the classroom is neat and clean.
Assist the lead teacher in educational, emotional, physical and social development of pupils.
Assist in implementing the Individual Education Programs for pupils and monitor pupils progress.
Support pupils outside and inside the classroom to ensure and enable them to participate in all the school activities.
Coordinates with other professionals such as occupational therapists, speech therapists, counselors, etc when needed.
(Here at Heritage - ESL teachers, Special needs and assistants of special needs students)Provides assistance to the lead teacher in maintaining class and pupil records.
Grading should be scheduled to allow for active involvement during Literacy and Numeracy classes.
Prepares displays for classrooms and helps children present their displays.
Assists lead teacher in photocopying and other pre-class preparation tasks.
Undertakes playground supervision during recess.
Undertakes any other reasonable duties assigned by the lead teacher or the head teacher.
Professional Qualifications Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree Plan, direct and coordinate activities related to the Academic field Demonstrate a life congruent with our Statement of Faith of Heritage International School
