Nature and Scope

The Middle School Principal provides academic, spiritual, and cultural leadership for Grades 6–8, ensuring the division reflects the mission and vision of Heritage International School. The Principal oversees curriculum implementation, student life, discipline, faculty development, parent relations, and day-to-day operations for the Middle School.
This leader works collaboratively with the Secondary Principal, division Coordinators, and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to maintain unity, alignment, and whole-school coherence.

2. Professional Responsibilities

Strategic and Academic Leadership

Carry out the mission and vision of Heritage International School across Grades 6–8.

Oversee curriculum implementation and alignment, ensuring academic rigor and biblical integration.

Collaborate with Coordinators to support curriculum mapping, instructional quality, and vertical alignment with Grades 5 and 9.

Use academic data to drive instructional improvement and learning outcomes.

Lead Middle School assessment, reporting, and progress monitoring.

Faculty and Staff Leadership

Recruit, onboard, supervise, and support Middle School teachers and staff.

Conduct professional evaluations, formal observations, and instructional coaching.

Lead MS faculty meetings, collaborative planning, and PD initiatives.

Foster strong morale, teamwork, and shared mission across the division.

Student Life, Behavior, and Well-Being

Lead day-to-day student discipline using a restorative, redemptive approach. Minor infractions: managed at the division level.
Major infractions: escalated to the Head of School as needed.

Oversee advisory programs, student leadership, and well-being initiatives.

Partner with Chaplaincy, SSS, and Enrichment teams to strengthen student development.

Parent and Community Engagement

Serve as first point of contact for Middle School parent communication and concerns.

Build positive partnerships with parents through meetings, communication, and community events.

Represent Grades 6–8 at admissions and community activities.

Promote a welcoming, supportive environment that encourages student success.

Operational and Administrative Leadership

Manage schedules, duty rosters, staffing coverage, and event planning for MS.

Oversee division-level budgeting and resourcing in coordination with Finance.

Maintain compliance with accreditation standards, policies, and legal requirements.

Participate in SLT meetings, strategic planning, and whole-school initiatives.

Collaborate directly with the Secondary Principal to ensure cohesive expectations, alignment, and reporting across Grades 6–12.

3. Professional Development

Set and submit annual goals to the Head of School.

Hold or complete ACSI Principal Certification within the first year.

Engage in ongoing learning related to Christian education, leadership, curriculum, and Middle School development.

4. Professional Qualifications

A committed Christian aligned with the Heritage Statement of Faith.

Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field.

Current teaching certification/licensure (required).

Minimum 5 years successful teaching experience (Middle School or Secondary).

Minimum 3 years leadership experience (Principal, Assistant Principal, Division Head, etc.).

Demonstrated strength in academic leadership, student development, and team management.

International school experience highly preferred.

Familiarity with IPC, American, AP, or other international curricula is an advantage.

Strong skills in conflict resolution, student support, communication, and strategic planning.
