Procurement Manager - Uganda (Projects in Kenya)
China Sourcing Experience Required
An established and growing group of companies is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager with strong China sourcing expertise to join its team. The role will be based in Uganda and will initially focus on sourcing materials, finishes, furnishings, and equipment for the development of apartment buildings in Kenya.
After completion of the apartment development project, the successful candidate will transition into a broader procurement role supporting sourcing and supply chain management for the group’s restaurant operations and other hospitality ventures.
Responsibilities
-Lead procurement and sourcing activities for residential apartment development projects in Kenya
-Source building materials, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and finishing items primarily from China
-Identify reliable manufacturers and suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing and terms
-Manage supplier relationships and oversee quality control and production timelines
-Coordinate international logistics, shipping, and import documentation
-Work closely with project management teams to ensure procurement aligns with construction schedules
-Implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining quality standards
-Transition into sourcing for restaurant equipment, furniture, and operational supplies after project completion
Requirements
-Proven experience in procurement and international sourcing, particularly from China
-Strong network or experience working with Chinese manufacturers and suppliers
-Experience sourcing for construction projects, property development, hospitality, or large-scale commercial projects
-Knowledge of international shipping, logistics, and import procedures
-Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
-Willingness to be based in Uganda and travel within the region as required
