Active in public health, education, livelihoods, women's empowerment, youth development, and protection and promotion of rights, IRC assists people from harm to home. The IRC was registered in Uganda in mid-1998 and implements rehabilitation activities in the sectors of Child and Youth Protection and development, Health, Economic recovery and Development and women protection and empowerment as well as contributing to the response to the Southern Sudanese Refugee situation. IRC Uganda has a head office in Kampala, field offices in Kitgum, Karamoja, and West Nile and south western. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: S/He shall be responsible for quality assurance of all pharmaceutical products in the Uganda country programs and also act the bridge between Supply Chain and the Health Unit. Will work with other health program staff to ensure quality patient care, in close cooperation with the office of the health manager, in line with the overall organizational strategic goals and mission. Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical guidance to the pharmacy technicians in all aspects of drug supply management.Assists the Global Pharma Quality Assurance Manager in market assessment and supplier prequalification & Collective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) follow upImplement Pharma SOP’s and forms in central warehouse/s and health facility stores.Provide continuous Pharma training for Supply Chain and Health Unit staff.Oversee the medical drugs and supplies quantification and ensures that all procured items are in the CP Essential Drug ListParticipate in ensuring rational drug use.Ensure the team under his/her care practices and promotes the principles of good pharmaceutical care.Ensure Good Distribution Practices for all Pharma products.Good Dispensing Practices. Manages controlled drugs, supervises cold chain - reporting breaches.Focal point to gather pharma-related complaints and report to HQ.Provide support supervision to the Pharmacy Technicians to ensure proper management of medical drugs and supplies. LiaisonMaintain regular contact with UNHCR Pharmacist based in KampalaAttend Pharma-related meetings to represent IRC. Communication/Reporting Provide regular feedback to the Health Coordinator on the Pharma related issues.Participate in the development work plans and program reviews on a monthly basis with the Health Coordinator. Budget/Grants Effectively and efficiently manages the pharmacy/medicine budget ensuring expenses are appropriate and incurred according to schedule.Participate in the development, reviews and tracking of budgets & spending. Supervision Continually monitors the activity of the Pharmacy Technicians.Ensure regular (monthly) supportive supervisory information. Continuously assess the staff needs, identify gaps and adapt plans/activities to respond to these gaps. Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist in the development of appropriate store monitoring tools.Maintain a good record keeping system and undertake continuous monitoring and regular evaluation of the health facility activities.Ensure that drug stock and supplies are monitored.
