To do that, we employ qualified, competent and caring individuals who are dedicated to their professions and to our vision of Healthy People, Healthy Communities.Job SummaryThe Respiratory Therapist's responsibilities will include but are not limited to: airway management, mechanical ventilation, arrest and trauma response teams, patient transport, and pulmonary diagnostics for Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal populations.These positions report to the Regional Manager, Allied Health Services. These two positions will support virtual ERs at Category B sites including other on-site services as necessary, in the geographical region from Clarenville/Bonavista to and including the Burin Peninsula. One of the positions will have a home base at the GB Cross Memorial Hospital and the other one the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. The applicants will play a key role in planned Virtual ER to assist with airway management and other patient care needs as part of the rural health care team. This will require overnight stays at the various Category B sites throughout the region.When applicants are not required to provide service to a Category B site, they will support Respiratory Therapy services at their home site.These positions report and maintain accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Respiratory Therapy for professional integrity and practice issues.Successful applicants will work on a 12-hour rotation schedule and on-call will be required. Accommodations and other travel expenses as per the collective Agreement will be provided when travelling to other sites.Job DemandsRequirementsBy applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to)Constantly moves/lifts up to 10 lbs, regularly moves/lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally is required to reposition/move up to 30 lbs. Pushes/pulls up to medium force.Constantly walks/stands with occasional fast pace/run; works in awkward positions to perform/assist with procedures.Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory, and visual concentration to provide clinical interventions, assess/monitor patients, to complete documentation, etc.May be subject to time pressures/deadlines and subject to lack of control over work pace.Job QualificationsGraduation from an accredited academic program in Respiratory Therapy is required.Proof of current registration from the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.A satisfactory record of work performance is required.Conditions of employment include the use of a private vehicle.The successful applicant must be willing to complete at the first available opportunity Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) in-house as determined by the employer.Employees, to review your attendance record please refer to your employee portal on the Intranet for details.
