Job Description JOB SUMMARYResponsible for implementation of the transport policy and providing quality transport services to enhance efficiency and reliability of UETCL operations.KEY RESULT AREAS• Monitor, analyse and account for usage of Company fuel expenditure ➢ Supervise the activities of all staff under the Transport unit.• Analyse performance of external motor vehicle garages• Prepare technical specifications of fleet related items and participate in the procurement process in line with the PPDA guidelines.• Analyse and prepare monthly report on vehicle user performance.• Determine transport needs and prepare transport budget for all UETCL fleet and plans as required by the grid code. Thereafter prepare monthly project and studies progress report to the Senior Planning Engineer as required by Company objectives• Develop methods to decrease cost and improve efficient utilization of UETCL fleet• Carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.THE PERSON SPECIFICATIONS• A bachelors’ degree with honours in Mechanical Engineering, Fleet Management, Logistics and Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field from a recognized institution.• At least 5 years’ experience in Fleet Management, Supply Chain• Management/Logistics and managing transport services in a large organization.• Must have evidence of experience or training in managing transport in public sector organizations.• Knowledge of related fleet management software is considered an added advantage.• Solid understanding of vehicle mechanics.• Proven ability to deal with multiple tasks in a courteous and service-oriented manner in demanding working conditions that often have short deadlines.• Good supervisory and interpersonal skills• Must be computer literate.• Must have good analytical and communication skills• Can demonstrate personal and team leadership.• A person of high integrity, must be highly motivated, innovative and a committed team player.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND REMUNERATIONThe holder of this position will be offered a contract subject to the Ministry of Public Service Guidelines on the rationalization Exercise of Government Institutions.
