Working with Techno Serve staff, people around the world are lifting themselves out of poverty.

The results are amazing...when incomes increase and living conditions for families get better, they are able to access health care and education previously out of reach.

Communities and even whole countries are better off.

Job Summary: This position is part of the Horticultural Value Chain Development Team, which ensures the delivery of high-quality, customized training to MDF clients, specifically farmers, producer organizations, retailers, and vendors.

The project is in its final phases, and the Agronomy Associate Advisor will work closely with Business Advisors /regional Coordinators to mentor and coach the last cohort of farmers, specifically in producer groups, and support the designated Horticulture cooperatives to grow their extension hubs and bulking centers.

The AAA will support the documentation of learnings in their region and support the close-off of the project, discussing with farmers the transition and sustainability of practices regarding climate change, access to finance, and inputs.

Work closely with local district government officials to wind down the Horti MAP Activities and ensure visibility through the closing period.

Program Overview: Through the four-year Horti MAP program funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Techno Serve and partners BID Capital and PUM has transformed the horticulture industry in Uganda.

The program combines catalytic funding through a Market Development Facility and Technical Assistance fund to leverage private sector and local resources and expertise to strengthen SMEs and regional supply chains while delivering entrepreneurship training to farmers and retailers to realize their potential.

In its final phase, the project would like to consolidate these activities and ensure that the results achieved so far are sustained and the sustainability pipeline is clear to the sector.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities: Offer tailored assistance to specific Horticulture farmer groups/Horticulture Cooperatives, guaranteeing a seamless project conclusion and continual operations.

Follow up with the farmers who have been granted infrastructure funds, documenting insights, and aiding them in defining their business plans.

Guarantee the execution of the exit strategy at the local government and farmer levels, encompassing commodity-based platforms, radio talk shows, and lead farmer support.

Finalize the mobilization strategy for farmers to take advantage of the credit line supported by EKN.

Coordinate the conclusion of project reporting to present both quantitative data and anecdotal evidence of the project's impact.

Any other duties assigned by your supervisor Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science with a bias to crop production with a Minimum of 2 years of field experience in extension service, Deep understanding and Knowledge of the horticulture sector Strong private sector experience, facilitation skills, and Participatory Approach in Extension Knowledge of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), Gender and Youth Engagement in agriculture Relevant skills in Monitoring and Evaluation tools and practices, such use of digital platforms for data capturing and reporting Good computer skills (Excel and MS Word)Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in the local language(s) or one of the regional languages spoken in the district Ability to ride a Motorcycle with a valid riding permit or willing to learn and acquire a license in one month We encourage all qualified individuals who share Techno Serve's vision of improving the lives of others through proven business solutions to apply.
